As we alluded to yesterday, we have some massive news for you. At a press conference in Sydney this morning all five band members announced their most extensive Australian tour ever! In what has been an agonising decision for the band, they have also announced that the “Sunsets” tour around the nation will be their last ever. Powderfinger will disband as a touring and recording band following this tour.
In a statement read out by Bernard, the band said that “With the completion of our last album, Golden Rule, we feel that we have said all that we want to say as a musical group. We firmly believe that it is our most complete and satisfying album and can't think of a better way to farewell our fans than with music that we all believe in and also with, hopefully, our best tour to date.”
Dry your eyes fans, we still have a massive amount of excitement in store for you. The “Sunsets” tour will include shows in 21 different cities across every state and territory and be stretched over a seven week period from early September through to late October. Tickets will go on sale 9am Friday 30th April. Stay tuned for fanclub pre-sale information.
To add to the fun, the band will be supported by JET for all shows except the first three. The dates in Newcastle, Gold Coast and Brisbane will be supported by THE VINES.
The band also announced today that they will be partnering with Yalari on the tour. Yalari sponsors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from regional, rural and remote communities to attend boarding schools all around the country, so they can receive a first class education through full boarding scholarships at the highest achieving secondary schools. Yalari is an organisation that looks to the improvement of the standard of living of Aboriginal people all around Australia by lifting education standards and creating inspirational incentives to children that would not ordinarily be afforded these types of opportunities. I know, ist auch mitlerweile komplett sold out, habe es selber auch erst im märz mitbekommen, als ich ne mail bekam, dass es in london ne zusatzschow gibt... und dachte nur, was hast du verpasst? wir sind eigentlich aufn nem rundtrip, werden den abend aber fuer die Jungs zurueck nach Dublin fahren. und unter den heutigen news, wird es noch besonderessseseser ;o)

Ich kannte Powderfinger bis heute ehrlich gesagt gar nicht. Nach dem Video (All Of The Dreamers): hat bei mir noch nicht so ganz gezündet. Ich werde mir aber auf jeden Fall noch mehr anhören.

ja, das stimmt. ich wuerde auch sagen, sie sind nach valture street in ein sehr massen kompatibeles fahrwasser abgetaucht. was sicherlich auch zur heutigen entscheidung beigetragen hat. eine staerke, wie ich finde sind aber immer wieder die unplugged versionen der songs, gerade obrigen finde ich in der full version sehr kitschig - unplugged wirklich schoen!

It's with great disappointment that we have to announce the postponement of our UK tour, due to start tomorrow in Dublin. Unfortunately the band are still stuck in Brisbane due to the volcano-caused havoc the world is currently in. With no expected flight date forthcoming, we had no option but to postpone.
On the upside, Powderfinger will still make the trek over for what will be their last ever Northern Hemisphere tour. ALL TICKETS PURCHASED FOR THE APRIL TOUR WILL BE VALID FOR THE NEW DATES, AND PLEASE NOTE ALL VENUES REMAIN THE SAME.
