wir versuchen 2, 3x im Jahr in der Bochumer Christuskirche einen Denovali Labelabend auf die Beine zu stellen. Den Anfang machen THE DALE COOPER QUARTET (zum ersten mal live in Deutschland), BERSARIN QUARTETT (zum ersten mal live seit 3, 4 Jahren + zum allerersten mal mit Bandbesetzung) und N.

THE DALE COOPER QUARTET
Formed for the improvisation nights Dynamo in Brest, France, this quartet made of musicians covering a wide variety of musical styles creates a sound that mixes electronic (samples, cuts, sound treatments) and acoustic elements (guitars, saxophone, trumpet). They’re playing moody ballads that sound as if they would come out from one of David Lynch's movies. Like in the films of Hollywood’s master of bizarre pieces, there is something like a dark and poisonous colour broken by red thunderlights and blue cigarette smoke. The music spawnes some odd characters and landscapes while the listener makes out some more friendly faces that loom up out of this nowhere place: the voice of Zalie Bellaccico, Milanese streets sounds, a lazy flute, or some distant breathing swim on the surface of this deep troubled waters. "Paroles de Navarre" is an invitation for opening the red curtain of this Dark Jazz cabaret made of shimmering and whirling walls. For pop listeners without a feeling for depressive soundscapes it might be boring – for us it’s one of the best musical outputs we’ve discovered in the past years. If you like BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE or THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE, you should be all ears.
BERSARIN QUARTETT

So yes, references to Stars Of The Lid, Ulver's Perdition City, Bohren & Der Club Of Gore and Cinematic Orchestra are fully justified. (...) An excellent debut album, great for nocturnal couch consumption, closing your eyes and dreaming away. (...) Slickly produced without becoming becoming empty chillout fastfood, Bersarin Quartett does what it promises and does it well and a recommendation for everyone into the bands I mentioned earlier. Make no mistake, Bersarin Quartett is an incredible release in the electronica world, but one that fans of many other genres will enjoy. Sputnikmusic (4,5/ 5) FOR FANS OF CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA, STARS OF THE LID etc.

the music of N is like a mirror of the moment. regardless how much thinking and planning went before. the sound captured by a "live"-recording setting comes directly from the inside. amps + guitar are the instruments used, there is no cut and paste afterwards nor any overdub...<br>all N-work is counted by numbers that reflect the timeline of recording and / or the moment of the conclusion to go for the certain concept. all N-recordings (with the possible exception of single-tracks) deal with a real place and so the title of any album does.<br>N decided to focus on the freshness that can only be achieved by recording-while-playing-the-first-time and went for that concept on all solo-recordings since then, using a one guitar / two amplifiers setup with a chain of pedal-effects in between. with this it is possible to record exactly what happened in the moment of the inspiration. creating an aesthetic in sound that is based on a certain warm deepness, being highly attractable both for player and listener. during live-performance, N does not use any backing tapes nor prefabricated loops.
