Time for a new Denovali release update. The SWITCHBLADE - [2012] and CONTEMPORARY NOISE SEXTET wooden boxset preorders are shipped since last week. We're down to around 100 copies of the wooden boxset – due tot he high production costs we won't repress those. The SWITCHBLADE coffee special is as well down to 70 packages. The Exorcisms LP features the recordings of two THISQUIETARMY performances at the Christ's Church Cathedral in Hamilton for the New Harbours Music Series. Novaya Zemlya is the latest output of THOMAS KÖNER (released on cd via Touch Music) – now for the first time available on vinyl. Further works of Thomas with Denovali will follow later this year on Cd and vinyl. Archipelago is the 2nd album of Edinburgh-based HIDDEN ORCHESTRA, who combine two live drummers, organic samples and dubby basslines to make cinematic, emotive, percussive music. The album will be available in 2 different vinyl versions. We've also repressed their debut Night Walks. The official release concert will happen at SWINGFEST Sunday October 7 in Essen (ger).

Hi again everyone.
Currently no time to catch a breath - still a lot of work with the DENOVALI SWINGFEST preparations - but the artists for sure also would like to see their new releases online. So we're very happy to present you the new records of BLUENECK, LENTO and DOMINIC today.
RELEASE NEWS:
BLUENECK are back with a new instrumental record they would love to present you before they're releasing their 4th album with vocals in spring 2013. Composers and soundscapers like Brian Eno, Air, John Carpenter or Clint Mansell were a huge inspiration for this record. We recommend to listen to it with headphones to discover all the details. This record is limited to 500 pieces on vinyl and 1000 on cd and won't be repressed.
Our Italian friends LENTO are in some way also presenting a soundtrack - but rather one for your darkest nightmares. Anxiety Despair Languish is a summary of the whole heavy music panorama of our time. The result is the most ambitious work that they could make: an album for people who are not used to that kind of music, and for people who solely like that kind of music. They will tour with this record for 2 weeks from October 6th on.
After a longer break preparing a new album DOMINIC are back with a 10'' featuring one brand new song and two they have rerecorded. This one's limited to 300 copies and also won't be repressed.

We've really enjoyed the three days - we hope you've had a nice time as well. Second aspect: We're sorry for the little delays regarding orders placed between the end of September and today. The festival was very stressful – we therefore were not able to ship all items directly after purchase. We're now more or less back on track. POPPY ACKROYD (also part of HIDDEN ORCHESTRA) provides us with her brilliant first work called "Escapement" and THE ALVARET ENSEMBLE after several first live improvisations offers a fantastic self titled debut 2xLP/ 2xCd.
Classically trained on violin and piano, Poppy fell in love with contemporary piano music and with the piano beyond the keys, discovering the world of sound that could be made from other parts of the instrument. Realising the violin had the same potential, she has spent the last few years composing delicate, intricate and beautifully atmospheric music by manipulating and multi-tracking sounds from these two instruments. All of you who are interested in Arvo Pärt, Hauschka or Max Richter surely will enjoy these tunes.
People who are into Set Fire To Flames, Rachels, Arvo Pärt and the ECM catalogue on the other hand should give the Alvaret Ensemble a listen.
Poppy currently plays some first concerts together with CARLOS CIPA. The Alvaret Ensemble will be on the road again in January and February. You can find all dates attached below.

NEW RELEASES
We're very pleased to present you two new releases of our friend N - this time collaborations with the sound artist Jim Campbell. The LPs feature live recorded material from the studio while the included CDs present live-on-stage cuts. Both LPs are coming with thick special printed sleeves like all N releases and they're both limited to only 100 copies. A more detailed sound description is mentioned further below in the newsletter.
Only half a year after his impressive debut, SAFFRONKEIRA returns with another concept album, entitled "Tourette". While "A New Life" dealt with transition, maturation, the white and black parts of life, the common theme of "Tourette" seem to be neurological diseases. And indeed, it is not difficult to imagine the vast neural network of the human brain while listening to "Tourette", to visualize how electric impulses switch from neuron to neuron, follow various paths in the cerebral cortex, spread and recombine and eventually are lead astray or possible meet a damaged nerve cell. "Tourette" leaves the listener in a puzzled situation, as he soon realises that it poses more questions than answers. Recommened if you enjoy artists like Fennesz, Murcof or maybe Arvo Part. The album is available as a 2xlp (limited color edition: 150 pieces on white with black splatters), on cd and digitally via www.denovali.com/saffronkeira

Speaking about the Berlin edition of Swingfest: Around 60% of the tickets for day one are already gone – just to avoid any crying if it might sell out in the next 2, 3 weeks. The capacity for day two isn't that limited – so there are more tickets available.

We've prepared two new releases for you in the past weeks. Available for preorder now are the new albums of FIELD ROTATION and ONEIROGEN. The newsletter beyond that features an announcement regarding the new album and collection boxset of GREG HAINES, a Denovali concert overview, the new music video of LENTO and the as always the new mailorder update.
NEW RELEASES
After his fantastic performance at the CTM Festival in Berlin Oneirogen finished his new album called „Kiasma“. Mario Diaz de Leon creates his own style of hallucinatory music, merging ethereal synths, brutal distortion, dark ambient and noise.
With his new album Christoph Berg a.k.a. Field Rotation concentrates on the more classically based production, continuing and expanding upon the musical idea of his 'Acoustic Tales' project. 'Fatalist: The Repetition of History' is marked by a noticeable inner fragility, the contrast between bitter harshness and stirring melancholy.
Both albums are as always available as cd, limited vinyl version and digitally.
NEW LENTO VIDEO

NEW GREG HAINES RELEASES
2013 seems to be the year of Greg Haines: In May we will release “Where We Were”, a new album which focuses on electronic and percussive elements. In conjunction with this, a 3xCd, 5xLp boxset release consisting of Greg's three previous albums will be released, so listeners can finally enjoy them all together. Alongside work in various other projects that will be announced as the year continues, Haines will also be scoring the new ballet by David Dawson, to be premiered in November at the Royal Opera House in London, with The Royal Ballet.
Greg also will play a longer tour in May. The dates will be announced soon at his new facebook page: www.facebook.com/greghainessounds

It's been four years since their previous album, but now DOMINIC is finally ready with album number three, “Persona”.
In the first years since their beginning in 2001, DOMINIC have mainly focused on concerts and live shows and have toured Europe a lot especially after 2003. Many DOMINIC releases have seen the light of the day during these years, including two full length albums. Most of these recordings had been done live and as quickly as possible. The band has had its focus on catching the nerve and roughness the live format adds, without spending too much time on post production.
With the new album DOMINIC took a different approach and thus Persona marks a new step in their history as a band. DOMINIC started working on the songs for the album shortly after their previous album “Nord” was released in 2009. Since 2010 there have been fewer live shows, but a steady and continuous work on the material for Persona. Finally DOMINIC have been in and out of the recording studio in the Summer and Fall of 2012 to finish the record.
The album name “Persona” is borrowed from the psychiatrist Carl Jung, who defined “the persona” as a mask, the facade we try to maintain in social settings. The persona-mask occurs between the individual and the society around, and is not more real than the characters played in a fictional play. Both in fiction and in real life, the mask has two functions; to make a certain impression on others, and to hide the true nature of the individual.

This celebrated and long sold out self titled 2003 release of Switchblade is finally available again on both CD and vinyl, remastered and with a modified artwork.
A 6 song, 47 minute journey, this album is the definition of epic. A dense sonic storm of ambient soundscapes, driving repetition, and dark instrumental passages, that's building to an immeasurable wall of sound and power. All with just sparse use of vocals. Switchblade have been seething and writhing within Sweden's prolific underground music community since 1998. Their progression was quick. In only a few years Switchblade went from wearing their influences on their sleeves to making major waves in a still young sub genre. Shaped equally by their love of the morose sounds of Joy Division, Swans, The Melvins, Neurosis, Isis, etc. 10 years later and with three further albums plus a Swedish Grammy nomination under their belt, Switchblade's sounds has shifter a bit, and Switchblade are now rather fans of Autopsy, Eagle Twin, Uriah Heep, Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath, Bohren & Der Club of Gore etc. Yet, Switchblade are still titans of minimalism and their 2003 marks an integral part of their discography as anybody can judge for himself.

This celebrated and long sold out self titled 2003 release of Switchblade is finally available again on both CD and vinyl, remastered and with a modified artwork.
A 6 song, 47 minute journey, this album is the definition of epic. A dense sonic storm of ambient soundscapes, driving repetition, and dark instrumental passages, that's building to an immeasurable wall of sound and power. All with just sparse use of vocals. Switchblade have been seething and writhing within Sweden's prolific underground music community since 1998. Their progression was quick. In only a few years Switchblade went from wearing their influences on their sleeves to making major waves in a still young sub genre. Shaped equally by their love of the morose sounds of Joy Division, Swans, The Melvins, Neurosis, Isis, etc. 10 years later and with three further albums plus a Swedish Grammy nomination under their belt, Switchblade's sounds has shifter a bit, and Switchblade are now rather fans of Autopsy, Eagle Twin, Uriah Heep, Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath, Bohren & Der Club of Gore etc. Yet, Switchblade are still titans of minimalism and their 2003 marks an integral part of their discography as anybody can judge for himself.

First of all thanks a lot to everyone who came to the first edition of Denovali Swingfest Berlin - we really enjoyed the two evenings and we hope you had a nice time as well. Special thanks to the crew of the Radialsystem (especially Hannes and Ben of UM:LAUT) and the Passionskirche. We hope we can realize the fest in Berlin again in 2014. See you next year or maybe in London or Essen.
RELEASE NEWS
We're very happy to present you the first Denovali release of PIANO INTERRUPTED. Their debut album „Two By Four“ will see the light of day as Cd, 2xLP and digitally. With cinematic piano, dreamy soundscapes, fragile and broken melodies colliding over complex rhythm structures, it's difficult to categorise the musical style of Piano Interrupted. It seems to vary from EP to EP, gig to gig, track to track, even from bar to bar. There are nods to minimalism, film scores and cinematic soundscapes, glitch and ambient, post-rock, neo-classical piano and jazz... mastered by Nils Frahm[/i]. We're back from our first DENOVALI SWINGFEST LONDON edition. Thanks to all the artists for their great sets, to the very nice team of the Scala for the good service, to our friends helping out with the event and last but not least the great audience for the outstanding interest and support. We'll try to set up the event again next year. Next stop will be our home event in Essen in October.
Sorry that the delivery of orders in the past 10 days needed a bit longer to ship than usual. We were pretty busy with the festival.
NEW RELEASE
We're pleased to present you the 11th album of TERMINAL SOUND SYSTEM called „A Sun Spinning Backwards“. Weaving together threads of post-rock and electronica, space-rock atmospherics with devastating passages of doom, A Sun Spinning Backwards is a multifaceted journey from inner to outer space.
In line with this new masterpiece we're offering a repress of the „Constructing Towers“ album – this time also available on cd in a nice digipak cover. Both albums should be ready to ship next week.
The PIANO INTERRUPTED album also should be ready to ship early next week.

Witxes from France is back with a stunning new album called „A Fabric Of Beliefs“ – in line with it we're offering his debut „Sorcery/Geography“ with a new design and a bonus track. Witxes will present the new pieces on a short solo tour together with Saffronkeira in May and he will play his first ensemble concert at Denovali Swingfest Essen.
Additionally we're very happy to announce the preorder of Greg Haines' new album „Where We Were“ on cd, double vinyl and digital, as well as the release of „2006-2012“, a collection of Greg's first three albums Slumber Tides, Until The Point of Hushed Support and Digressions as triple cd and wonderfully designed 5xLP wooden collector's box. The spaced-out soundscapes found on early Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze had always had a subtle influence on Greg's work, but now armed with an arsenal of dusty studio toys, those sounds became warmer, richer and more prominent.

Hello everyone.
It's been a while since we've sent out the last preorder newsletter. While listening to Chromatics we're currently preparing four new releases of two gorgeous Denovali artists for you.

Witxes from France is back with a stunning new album called „A Fabric Of Beliefs“ – in line with it we're offering his debut „Sorcery/Geography“ with a new design and a bonus track. Witxes will present the new pieces on a short solo tour together with Saffronkeira in May and he will play his first ensemble concert at Denovali Swingfest Essen.
Additionally we're very happy to announce the preorder of Greg Haines' new album „Where We Were“ on cd, double vinyl and digital, as well as the release of „2006-2012“, a collection of Greg's first three albums Slumber Tides, Until The Point of Hushed Support and Digressions as triple cd and wonderfully designed 5xLP wooden collector's box. The spaced-out soundscapes found on early Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze had always had a subtle influence on Greg's work, but now armed with an arsenal of dusty studio toys, those sounds became warmer, richer and more prominent.
