Good Ones

Thrice – Beggars
Erst war ich enttäuscht. Kein Konzeptalbum, kein Pathos, kein höheres Ziel. Rocksongs, einfach so … machen das nicht andere? Aber nach einer Weile hat es dann klick gemacht und es ist ein wunderbares Album geworden. Thrice können anscheinend fast alles. Ich bin auf das nächste Album gespannt.

Them Crooked Vultures
Supergroup hin und her, aber es rockt und groovt einfach mächtig. Supergroups müssen nicht immer super Musik machen, die alles andere in den Schatten stellt, sondern können auch einfach mal ein gutes Album abliefern. Es geht doch um das gemeinsame Musik machen und nicht darum ein neues Produkt zu entwerfen, das jeder haben will.

Mastodon – Crack the Skye
Hart, progressive, ein Feuerwerk.

Trail of dead – The Century of Self
Konsequente Weiterentwicklung der Jungs ohne das sie dabei aufhören die Trail of Dead zu sein, die man liebt.

Portugal. The Man – The Satanic Satanist
Ich frage mich wo die Jungs noch hin wollen. Aber bis jetzt war ich mit jedem Album glücklich.

Dredg – The Pariah, The Patrot, The Delusion
Dredg wird immer kompakter & poppiger. Aber das ist O.K. Auch das man Schnippsel die Songideen sind, aber eben noch keine Songs mit aufs Album packt. Beim nächsten bzw. übernächsten Album wird es bestimmt auch wieder tiefere, längere und wieder an die ersten Platten erinnern.

Eagles Of Death Metal – Heart On
Genauso wenige Innovationen beim neuen Album wie bei AC/DC, aber man hört jede Platte wieder gerne.

Steve Wilson – Insurgentes
The Master of Prog. Solo vielleicht sogar etwas einfacher und eingängiger als bei Porcupine Tree.

Coheed & Cambria – Neverender Live Box
Die ultimative Live Zusammenstellung, die keine Wünsche offen lässt. Die einen sagten Geldmacherei, aber für mich ist es ein grandioses Live Dokument.

Long Distance Calling – Avoid the light
Schön wenn Musik auch ohne Gesang funktioniert.

Japanische Kampfhörspiele – Luxusvernichtung
Absolute Materialverwendung, die auf die Idee des Songs reduziert ist ohne auch nur irgendetwas auszuformulieren. Das war ein Spaß :)

The Sword – Gods of the Earth & Age of Winters
Gitarre in die Hand, die Füße ganz weit auseinander und dann wird ganz tief, bis in den Doom, gerockt. Back to the 80’s.



Bad Ones

Yo La Tengo – Popular Songs
Stellt eine art von Musik dar mit der ich so überhaupt gar nichts anfangen kann ...

Muse – Resistance
Bis, vielleicht, noch auf den ersten Track/Single Uprising absolute enttäuschend und langweilig, mehr als einmal fragten mich Leute, die musikalisch kaum weiter weg von mir sein könnten, ob das Queen sind.

Alice In Chains – Black gives way to blue
Gähn, welches Jahr haben wir? Ach, das erste Jahrzehnt des 21. Jahrhunderts ist schon fast rum. Also ob die Zeit stehen geblieben ist. Aber das war nun mal die Musik der Endneunziger und lockt mich heute nicht mehr, wenn ich nicht gerade mal auf dem Retro-Tripp bin, aber dafür habe ich ja die alten Platten.

Billy Talent – III
Das 3. Album entscheidet so oft über den weiteren Werdegang eine Band? Billy Talent sind so was von Tod. Manche Bands haben nun mal nicht mehr zu sagen als das sie mehr als ein gutes Album machen sollten. R.I.P.

The Prodigy – Invaders must die
Wie Billy Talent haben The Prodigy auch schon alles gesagt was zu sagen ist, warum alles mit weiterem Geplapper zerstören? Ein Album voll komatöser Langeweile.

Chris Cornell – Scream
Muss man dazu noch etwas sagen?

Green Day – 21st Century Breakdown
Nach dem schon letzten, schlechten Album, American Idiot, das lediglich aus aneinander gereihten Rockzitaten bestand, die in so banaler Form verarbeitet wurden das man auch stupide MTV Jünger dazu bringen kann das ganze auch noch mit Awards einzudecken, ist die neue Platte noch langweiliger geworden. Mit allem drin was einen 08/15 Stadionrocker begeistert oder auch jeden anderem der sich dahin verirrt.

Motorpsycho – Child of the Future
Ich liebe Motorpsycho, aber zur Strafe das dieses Album nur als Vinyl rauskam landen sie auf der bösen Liste. Das ganze bitte als CD nachreichen und alles ist wieder gut.
